History:The lifter is designed for rescue missions as well as for cargo transportation. The ship is built of a rectangular steel frame structure connected to a rotating arm. The steel frame bears 4 identical engines located in each corner which provide propulsion along the ships horizontal level and thrusters for landing manouvers. Adjacent to the engine we find fuel tanks, reactors and force-field generators. The arm bears a self supporting habitat , an elevator to the steel frame and the rotation axis. The arm has to be rotated upside when the lifter is landed or if large cargo containers would block the pilot's view. The habitat is always rotated according to the arms movement, so that the floor is parallel to the ships axis or, if desired, perpendicular to the gravitational vector of a planet or ship. For means of moving the cargo an extendable frame with manipulator arms and search lights is used, that can be lowered from the still hovering ship down to a surface. Large cargo could be locked within the lowered frame and the ships main frame in some kind of a cage. The life habitat can also serve as life vessel, for it has limited manouvering capabilities. |
