Sandalphon

Originally the Prophet Elias. He is an angelic prince, twin brother of Metatron (Voice of God)
He is master of heavenly song, angel of tears and prayers. It is said, that he sees over the sexual determination of embryos (!!) in the womb.
Moses called him "the tall angel". Along with Archangel Michael, he carries on a ceaseless battle with the prince of darkness.
It is no surprise, that Sandalphon is found in his embryo(!!)-form, nested deep down in an active volcano (episode 10). NERV couldn't let this opportunity slip away, as the last attempt to get their hands on an angel in his embryo from, the reduction of Adam, caused the Second Impact.
Asuka tries to capture Sandalphon in a magnetic cage, but as soon as he is captured, he starts to grow, breaks free and brings her into a great deal of trouble.
She finally manages to freeze him to death with the cooling-liquid that temperated the funny bloated environment-suit her EVA was put in (that was extremely funny, because she as well had to wear a big red balloon...).
Unfortunately for her, she then had to be rescued by Shinji in his EVA-01.
